Maria Antonella Brandimonte is Professor of Cognitive Psychology and Psychology of Memory at Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples, where she founded the Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Psychology. She is the head of the Laboratory of Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. From 2006 to 2022, she was the Coordinator of the International PhD in Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests include memory and visual cognition. In 1992 and 1999, she received two international awards for her research achievements. Her most influential research papers on memory and imagery were published in top psychological journals including Perspectives on Psychological Science, Cognition, JEP:LMC. Most recently, in collaboration with Giovanni Federico and other international colleagues, her research interests have focused on investigating the cognitive and neural underpinnings of the human capacity to represent the physical world.
